How to Stop Crawler and Ghost Spam in Google Analytics

How to Stop Crawler and Ghost Spam in Google Analytics

On my previous post general rules for creating a search engine friendly website, I listed things that will help make your website search engine friendly. And today we will learn how to stop crawler and ghost spam in Google Analytics.

One of the most useful Google Analytics features helps webmasters track the referral URLs, from which people land on their website.

Unfortunately spammers utilize this possibility to promote their own websites or damage the image of unrelated companies by inserting their domain names as referrer URLs in your Analytics data.

There are two main types of spam that can utilize this functionality - Ghost spam and Crawler spam.

What is Ghost Spam and How to Filter it Out

Spammers that use this method don't actually visit your site. Instead, they use the Analytics Measurement Protocol which allows people to send data directly to Google Analytics and add malicious information through it. Usually, they randomly generate Analytics tracking codes (UA-XXXXX-1).

This way they leave fake data in your account without any trace.
Since ghost spammers don't know to which domain they are sending data to Google Analytics, they are either using their hostname, that has nothing to do with your site, or they don't specifying a domain name at all.

You can easily get a list of the valid hostnames that should be sending information to your account. Usually, that would be only yourdomain.com plus all subdomains you have like blog.yourdomain.com or even www.yourdomain.com.

To get this information, go to Google Analytics -> Network and select the Hostname option as Primary Dimension. Then, you need to create a list of all your hostnames using Regular Expression like this:
yourdomain \. com | blog\. yourdoma
Add all hosthames that actually belong to you into that list and store them in an empty text file. We will need them in a moment.

Next, click on the Admin link on top of the site, select your account, the respective property and view for the site in question, and click on the Filters -> Add Filter menu. This will allow you to create a new filter.

Set a name for it, like "Ghost spam filter", then choose custom filter type. Now select hostname from the filter field dropdown and click on the
Include radio button. Finally, add the list of valid domains in the Filter Pattern field. It's good to click on the verify this filter link before activating it. Once you do that, you will see the information that will be removed from your Analytics data. Finally, click on the save button and you're done!

How to Stop Crawlers Spam

Stopping crawlers spam is easier because they actually access your site. You can get their hostnames the same way you got your valid hostnames.

This time, get all the suspicious ones that have strange / unexpected Source and Hostname different than yours. Then, you can block them by using the following .htaccess rule:
  • ## STOP REFERRER SPAM
  • RewriteCond % { HTTP_REFERER } sp
  • RewriteCond % { HTTP_REFERER } bu
  • RewriteRule . * - [ F ]
Note, that .htaccess files are sensible and you have to escape the dot character with a slash. For example, if you want to block spam-bot-site.net, you need to add spam-bot-site\.net in the rules.
Hope this helps?

How to gain more organic traffic on your website through a blog

How to gain more organic traffic on your website through a blog

A blog can be a great way to drive intent-driven traffic to your website. If you’re providing valuable content that seeks to answer questions and provide valuable insights, it can do a lot to establish your brand, create recurring traffic, and rank for keywords that will help drive customers.

Try to create content that specifically highlights and solves user problems. Be interesting and unique by providing a perspective that isn’t as universal as all the other content that out there. It’s not lie that content marketing for SEO  and other SaaS fields is oversaturated; but that doesn’t mean that you can’t find a new way to address recurring issues.

The world of SEO and other similar pursuits are always changing. SEO used to be just about getting backlinks and showing up 1st on the SERP. Now it’s so much more complex: there are a multitude of things you can do to optimize your website and drive traffic.

Here are some ways you can increase traffic to you blog

  • Build a presence on social media and attract followers. Publish content and engage your base regularly and if it’s good, unique, and helps solve problems or continuously provides users with engaging content, your followers should multiply and traffic increase.
  • Build a presence in the search engines by doing keyword research, link building, and refining your SEO strategy. Unless your BuzzFeed or other virally driven content sites, search engine traffic is sustainable over the long run if you’re ranking on the first page. Use long-tail and local SEO practices to get the right kind of traffic.
  • Enlist in paid advertising services either on social media, PPC campaigns in search engines, or through other advertising platforms.
  • Build backlinks from other sites to increase your referral traffic. This will double-down on your SEO efforts if the backlinks are coming from reputable and high-ranking sites.
  • Create direct traffic through other forms of advertising if your domain name is memorable enough. This worked very well for GoDaddy.com and other sites that could get their website name stuck in your head with a catchy jingle.

Those essentially cover the 5 main traffic channels, and all of them take time and effort to do correctly and effectively.

12 proven ways to make money in any niche

12 proven ways to make money in any niche
There are a few very important things that you must always consider in regards to online money making. Below is a list of the most common monetization methods, along with some important things to consider for your blog.

In my opinion, Google Adsense or advertising sales and affiliate marketing should be used as primary monetization methods. Email marketing and guest posting are two monetization methods that you can, and really should almost always use as a secondary monetization method.

This is by no means an exhaustive list of proven ways to make money from your sites, however, it may help you get starting. Also, all these methods work in almost any niche so if you don’t have to wonder if they may work for you or not, It will.

  1. Affiliate Programs (Revenue Share)

For those who still don’t know how affiliate program work, in a nutshell, you place a link on your site promoting a product. If somebody clicks through your link you get a % share of the sale cost. You don’t have to support the product, or deal with the tax, have a merchant account or any of the million and one issues which come with owning your own product.

Different affiliate tracking systems use different methods to track the sale, these can be: IP, Username, Referral address, Cookie, Flash cookie. I prefer programs that use long-lasting cookies (30 days or more) as most of the buyers don’t purchase the next moment they see an offer.

How To Find Affiliate Programs

Firstly if you are a member of an affiliate marketplace like Clickbank then go and have a look there, you never know there might be something. However don’t stop at that, have a look around for possibly better programs. Spend some time looking, don’t just jump at the first product you see within the niche you are interested in.
Google : Do a search based on your niche. If it’s a popular one with affiliate marketers you can bet the SERPs will be filled with affiliate sales pages. Go through the pages and see what products they are promoting.

Remember however these people are your competition, the fact you have just found them in Google shows other people can do and you will have to beat them, either with better SEO, backlinks, pay per view (PPV), pay per click (PPC) or long tail keywords.

You will, however, find many programs that are not part of any affiliate directories. When you are starting out you may be one of many people who has applied for the program, most will never make a single sale and so you will be ignored by the product owner or affiliate manager at first.

Don’t take this to heart, once you start making some actual decent sales number they will take notice. Once you make them a decent number of sales you may contact them for exclusive discount coupons or better affiliate payouts.

Recommended affiliate programs

2. CPA - Cost Per Action Programs

Here you don’t get a fee for the sale itself rather you get a few from some ‘action’, this could be a simple as referring the person to a site or having them submit a valid email address.

Now the lines have been blurred a lot because many programs list themselves as CPA but the action is a sale, but in these cases it’s not a revenue share as such because you can often make more money than the initial sale.

That may sound odd, how can a program payout $100 on a $37 sale? Well put simply for them the $37 is just the tip of the iceberg, they will be extracting money from the client for a long time to come.

Sounds dodgy, but it’s very common. You will find most mobile phone or subscription TV packages work this way.

Ever wonder why the mobile phone sales agent wants you to buy a particular phone? Well there is probably a nice big CPA payout on that phone, while the first month contract price on the phone may be only $50 the cost of the contract over its lifetime, plus the revenue from calls, is worth $1000′s and thus they can afford to pay out more than $50 upfront to you for referring the sale to them.

How to find CPA networks

You can look for CPA offers at OfferVault, but remember many networks are not included.
One thing that’s important is using network that pays out, sticking with some of the long term names in the industry is a safer option:

There are hundreds more. If you get stuck trying to join these networks because you don’t have any traffic to your website yet just tell them you will be using ‘social traffic and media buy’, that is Facebooks, Twitter etc along with Pay Per View or other advertising.

These forms of traffic don’t have any websites associated with them so you should pass that hurdle. If they call you and ask for more information tell them you don’t want to share your traffic source at the moment but you are doing XXX leads a day with another network and looking to expand.

Unless you know what you are doing I recommend you do not mix advertising and affiliate programs on one site, many people do run AdSense on their affiliate sites in the belief they will make more money. There are two types of advertising systems, ones where you get paid if a person clicks (CPC) on the advert and others where you get paid for each impression (CPM) of the advert.

3. Google Adsense

The placement of your Google Adsense units/ads is very important when it comes to both conversions and also ranking if you’re doing any SEO.

I find out that, in most cases, blending the ad in with the site (using the theme’s link color for the title, the theme’s background color for the background/border and the theme’s font color for the description) results in the highest conversion.

In practice, I see the best conversions with large rectangle units (336×280) and large, horizontal “leaderboards” (728×90) with horizontal banners (468×60) coming in a close third place. I USUALLY end up using two banners in the content (one directly below the post title and one below the post) and one large rectangle (in the sidebar).

That’s because the large rectangles are bad news in Google these days when used directly below the post title. They want to see a lot of content “above the fold” (the part of the site that is seen without having to scroll down) and a large rectangle so high up pushes your content down.

Keep in mind that Google Adsense is not going to make you reach, unless you have large figures of traffic and content but is a sure and proven way to make money. Other contextual advertising networks I recommend:

  • Media.net(I may give these guys a go as they contacted me with a personalized offer. I will keep you posted on how it goes).
  • Adsterra.com
  • AdRecover.com – Monetize your ad blocked traffic.

4. Sell advertising

I have sites that make more money from direct advertising than anything else and I don’t reach out to ANYONE to provoke the offers! All I do is set up a very basic Advertising page that briefly outlines the type of advertising that is available (banner ads, links etc.) and the traffic potential.

From there, my sites that get any kind of decent exposure (especially in Google) receive advertising inquiries naturally. There are a great deal of big, medium and small companies out there that are regularly on the lookout for sites to advertise on.

Depending on your community’s popularity, some advertisers are willing to pay no less than $3,000 per year. This method It has resulted in thousands and thousands of dollars for me over the years and it’s something that requires little time or effort, yet many people do not do it.

If you want don’t want how much you should charge check the BuySellAds marketplace. There you can get a pretty good idea on how much a forum with similar traffic than yours is making.

Now that you have a pretty good idea on the advertising prices you should ask you may signup an account with them or simply sell advertising on your own.

Just create an Advertise with us page and let your members know they can purchase an add on your site. On that page, you should show some traffic stats, tell the visitor what kind of ads are available and you CAN show pricing, although I like to simply give them an email address to send all advertising queries to.

You can use one of the following WordPress plugins to sell advertising on your blog:

5. Publish advertorials/guest posts

After Google updates, most of the webmasters were looking to different ways to advertise their websites and moved away from all kind of backlinks spamming to guest posting There are a few very important things that you must always consider in regards to online money making.

As this advertising method became very popular bloggers started to ask money in exchange for publishing content and most of the contributors have nothing against paying from $50 to $300 for each guest post article they want to publish.

Keep in mind that Google forbids asking for money in exchange for placing guest posts but you can charge for your time spent to polish and publish the articles. Also if you clearly label them as advertorials and you no-follow the links you are 100% safe.

So, if your blog has some authority in your niche you can accept paid guest post articles and increase your revenue in an easy and profitable way.

6. Email Marketing

You can collect opt-ins via Popups (offering something of value for free… like a short report) on almost any site! You can then mail that list weekly, sending them to a new post that you’ve published on the site.

Then every so often sends out a promo for a good affiliate offer, or a product that you create yourself. Although popups are frowned upon by some, they work.

As long as you don’t do anything ridiculous, like preventing the user from closing it or showing it every 10 seconds, they will not cause any major issues and will only earn you more money. If you sell any products, whether digital or physical, you should definitely be asking every one of them to opt-inupdates for and announcements immediately after payment.

A customer list is the most profitable type of list! You can always put an opt-in form on your actual landing page as well, but whether or not this is a good idea depends on several different factors and usually comes down to testing.

If you’re dealing with an AdSense site, see what your AdSense profit is after 5,000 or so visitors without it, then see what it is after the same number of visitors with it. Then come up with a reasonable amount of profit you think the list will result in over the next several months and decide for yourself whether you think it’s more profitable with it or without it.

Some niches are better for this than others, as some tight niches just aren’t good candidates for email marketing in general (more on that in a minute) but if you’re targeting a niche that is good for email marketing, setting up a squeeze page giving away something of value.

NEVER hurts and usually results in some steady opt-ins on a regular basis.

7. Lead Brokerage

It’s a pretty popular technique these days, especially with local small businesses. You find a local realtor (for example), you build a site targeting “CITY realtor” and get traffic coming to it. Then you charge that realtor “$XXX” for each lead that converts.

On this type of site, the primary concern is obviously the lead. So, just like with affiliate marketing, you want to be sure to add a good call to action and add it in multiple spots throughout the site! On the homepage, you want a big telephone number (if you’re having them contact him/her directly) and/or a contact form in a VERY prominent spot on the site.

You don’t want to rely on the visitor to find your contact link, go to the contact page and then contact you/him/her that way. You want to make it very clear that you want that person to contact you and that “THIS” is how to do it.

8. Website Flipping

Here you main goal is to sell the website, you want to build it up and get some PR on it then sell it. Generally speaking, unless a site is for sale because the owner simply does not want to maintain it anymore you have to wonder why any site that makes money is for sale.

If you site is making money, and you have no reason for it to stop doing so, generally account the time you spend with maintenance and promotions in you are better off keeping it.

However, you should take Sometimes for a website to succeed it needs a ton of money or people with more connections or knowledge than you.

Keep in mind that there are niches where millions of dollars are spent monthly on advertising. You may see what sites are sold for on Flippa.com.

Don’t forget to take all your necessary precautions to not get scammed including doing due diligence on the buyer and use an escrow system for the transaction.

9. Create your own product / course

If you are just starting out this is probably the hardest thing to do, because you not only need to know how to be an affiliate but also a product owner. You need to be able to sell the idea to the affiliates in the first place, this having the skills of being an affiliate marketer in the first place will really set you ahead of the pack when it comes to selling your own product.

Create an online course

Find out exactly what those visitors want and create a course from there. The truth is that your first course may not be that “awesome” — but that’s okay. People like buying online courses, even when they can find the same information for free.

People like “convenience.” Online courses are focused on a specific subject or topic. They’re organized and ready to be put into action.

10. Offer your services (Writing, Consulting, etc.)

If you have a blog or website and you’re quite an authority in your niche or at least you prove to your visitors that you know what you’re doing and you’re a hard working person you’ll get projects from visitors that don’t have the time nor knowledge to do the things you’re doing.

There are plenty services you can offer and get paid as a freelancer.

  • Writing articles or books
  • Offer consultations via email, phone or skype
  • Do SEO, Blog installation, Social Media Marketing etc (Even if you’re not a GURU if you read our blog you will know more than average people know about these things)
Just prove them you’re the right person to do them.

11. Sell subscriptions to premium content

If you have a pretty solid readership base or you’re into not so competitive niches like internet marketing for instance you may create and sell access to premium posts on your blog.

If you are into financial / business niches you may sell your premium posts/reports for much more.

12. Ask for donations

It is not necessary to have thousands of visitors daily. If you have a strong, engaged readership base or a community that appreciate what are you doing then you may ask for donations.

This will not make you insanely rich but will help you pay for hosting, have a decent coffee and a snack and maybe save some money for future developments. People appreciate when receive to create it so most of them will be happy to help you.

All you have to do is to create quality content (video tutorials, step by step guides) in your niche showing them you’re passionate about it.time value for nothing and they understand that someone spent I see numerous blogs nowadays where the readers the costs of the hosting and maintenance and also bring some coffees for the admins.

If your website can not be monetized otherwise or you don’t want to place ads or post promotional content you should definitely ask for donations/support community.
Hope it helps?

Ways to make your website more effective

Ways to make your website more effective
If you have found out that your website is not drawing substantial traffic and that it is not in a good, healthy shape - consider yourself lucky that you have at least woken up to this fact.

There are thousands of websites languishing on the World Wide Web, about which their owners have little or no clue. At least you know where you stand and are looking for ways to get out of the situation.

The fact that you have taken the effort to think beyond designing speaks a lot about you. The next step from here is to take control. Check out why, where and what is wrong with your website and what can be done about it.

If you can’t figure out what needs to be done, seek professional help. You can even avail my Website Analyses Service which I offer FREE of cost to my clients.

Anyway coming back to the core issue – we will start with the Designing aspect. Importance of a well designed website cannot be undermined in today’s competitive business environment.

Our website to be effective should not only have appealing and attractive look but should also possess top class usability, and deliver right information. For a website to be effective, it is important that it ranks high in the major search engines when a potential customer types in a certain keyword or phrase.

That is the basic purpose of any website. A website is as good as number and quality of queries it generates.

But how can you make it all work?

The answer is simple- Implement ethical, white hat SEO on your site. According to industry experts making a website more valuable and easy-to-use for consumers is also a way to increase its search engine ranking.

For a website to be relevant to the consumer, entrepreneurs should ensure that it has optimized, quality content. Another way to make sites attractive for the consumer is to have internal links with anchor text that can trigger visitor’s and spider’s interest to explore the site further and stay longer.

The visitors are more likely to use a website or come back if they are convinced with the usability aspect of website. I always tell website owners to worry about making their website effective while they are at the designing stage and not panic after.

A lot of new web site owners put up a site without doing any research, or even knowing that it exists. When you are hiring a web designer convey clearly that you are looking for a website that will bring you visitors.

That’s the right way to do it. So while you are at it, you might as well get it right the first time - from the ground up. If you are unsure about where to go from this point, it would be better to work in collaboration with SEO firm or an individual well versed in the art of using on-site and off-site SEO techniques to make your website more effective and drive targeted traffic.

Direct ways to generate more than 2000 visitors to your blog per day

Direct ways to generate more than 2000 visitors to your blog per day

New website’s often face this uphill battle.

Website traffic  doesn’t fall from the sky, and getting new website traffic is a grind.

Most people get desperate and read about quick tactics to generate traffic, like Pinterest.

But, here’s the truth:

Not all traffic is created equal

Let’s say you got 1,000 site visits yesterday from Pinterest, but that traffic bounced immediately and never came back.

We don’t want that. Instead, you should focus on building consistent, loyal traffic if you want people to stick around.

Here’s a few “NO BS” ways to get immediate website traffic:

Forget About SEO Traffic

New websites should forget about SEO, and focus on making connections instead.

SEO is one of the best sources of consistent traffic to any site, don’t get me wrong.

BUT, if you’re new, forget about it.

When you start a new site, you’re competing with millions of other sites for the same traffic, and you’ll quickly get lost at sea.

Search engine’s reward trusted, authoritative websites that people like and recommend.

So where do you get traffic from?

Referrals

Your early traffic will likely come from other sites.

In the beginning, you should be spending time where your audience or user base is. Get them to come back to your site.

Connecting With Influencers and Communities

Generally, the most obvious source of referral traffic comes when other sites link to you. Think about traditional PR.

When a major site links back to you, you can rightfully expect great, relevant traffic.

Focus on building relationships with people in relevant communities.

Partner with people who influence these communities of your target audience.

Here are some additional quick ways to get traffic to your new search engine:

Content Marketing and Syndication, Long-Tail SEO, and Advertising (albeit obviously not free).

How much a blogger with millions followers make

How much a blogger with millions followers make

There are different bloggers from different niches and they all make different income even if they all have the same amount of traffic/followers.

The business capabilities of a blogger determines how successful or how rich he will be but all in all, the niche market where they all operate will determine how well paid they will be. Bloggers with very high traffic in the count of millions make between $5k - $100k per month and that's very huge.

Bloggers in the following niche market are well paid if they have that huge followership.
  • Business marketing / Personal finance niche
  • Healthcare and health insurance
  • Technology and Development
  • SEO  and content marketing
While bloggers in the following niche earn lesser than those in the above niche even if they have the same amount of traffic

  • Gossips and entertainment niche
  • Cooking and restaurants
  • Downloads and media pirates
That said, each niche determines how much people are willing to pay for such services.

Best way to market your blog

Best way to market your blog

It depends on your target audience and type of posts.

You should first work on improving your organic traffic  with some linkbuilding and guest posting. Try figuring out and finding some websites and blogs where your audience is likely to hang out and try to get a link to your blog posted there.

At the same time, you should promote your social media and try to grow your audience by engaging them on Facebook, Instagram, or whichever your audience is most likely to use. The groups of people active on Pinterest vs Linkedin are very different, for example.

You can also do paid campaigns on social media, with specific targeting. This could potentially show you that your target group isn’t quite what you planned to be.

AdWords could also make sense, but can be rather pricey, depending on the competition in your category. Are people more likely to search for the kind of content you’re posting on Google or pick it up casually from social media?

Other ad netwooks, like Taboola, can work well, too. It’s the kind that shows up on many websited under their posts as “Suggestsions from the web” or “Trending now” or something along those lines. Those ads can be quite edgy, though, so your audience may be among the people that see through that and just skip the whole thing.

Hope that gives you a few ideas :)

Best of luck!

Best way to promote a blog

Best way to promote a blog

There is hardly anything more difficult than promoting a new blog .

First because no-one knows about it, hence word-of-mouth will only bring you so far, second because it is empty, so even potentially interested readers won’t get all they need, and third because Google did not have a chance to properly index your content.

Those are the reasons why a major key to blogging success is patience. Like with all content marketing efforts, you need to count a minimum of 6 months to one year to start seeing results.

That being said, there are a few things you should do to boost your results:

Write quality content

It most certainly sounds obvious but it isn’t. You must understand what your potential audience is looking for, what they need to learn, what they want to read, before you could write good content. A good article answers a specific question, solves a specific problem. Start with finding the problem, then provide the solution.

Distribute your content

Regardless how great your content is, no one will find it if you don’t distribute it.
Use your newsletter, Social Media, network, curation platforms, etc. to make sure everyone knows about it.
However, don’t believe quantity outcome quality - from Google’s perspective, bouncing rate is an important element of your indexing. In other words, better have 10 readers who spend 5 minutes reading you article than 100 visitors who stay less than 5 seconds on your page.

Talk to Google

Make use of Google Search Console, build a sitemap, build RSS feeds, use analytics, use rich snippets, etc.
All these steps make it easier for Google to understand your content and therefore index it and drive traffic to it.

I hope this helps?

7 common mistakes to avoid when starting a blog

7 common mistakes to avoid when starting a blog

What’s your intention of blogging? To make money or just as an online diary?

If you choose the former, my advice is:

  1. Get a self-hosted WordPress (a.k.a. WordPress[dot]org), instead of a free Blogger or WordPress.com blog
  2. .Invest in your blog to see great returns.
  3. It’s easier to have a niche or two, rather than write about anything. Once you’ve grown, you can always expand to more niches. Try to keep them related though.
  4. You have to promote your blog posts; otherwise, no one will know you.
  5. Learn SEO from experts like Neil Patel, Brian from Backlinko, amongst others.
  6. Blog consistently. For instance, if you choose to post twice a week, stick to it.
  7. Blogging is a long-term effort.

Difference between a blogger and a freelance writer

Difference between a blogger and a freelance writer

A blogger is someone who writes for their own blog or contributes to one. A blogger doesn’t have to have their own blogging space to be considered a blogger, though many do.

Early on, bloggers are on the hook for the upkeep of their website, generating most if not all of the content (photo, copy, etc.) and building a following (sharing, SEO, ads, etc.) Bloggers choose what to talk about, when to talk about it and when to release it. Except if they are acting as a Guest Blogger.

A freelance writer pitches their pieces to editors of blogging sites, newspapers, etc. Freelance writers can also be tapped by Editors to write on a specific topic.

Freelance writers contribute to an already existing platform and are usually only on the hook for the copy. Their writing will likely be submitted to an editor for review, images are chosen by the editor along with the release date. The heavy lifting outside of the writing is handled by the team the freelance writer is contributing to. Depending on their popularity freelance writers are often pitching or being pitched by several periodicals at a time. Some of your favorite websites leverage the work of freelance writers.

Someone, like me, can be both a blogger and a freelance writer.

Both freelance writers and bloggers can be paid or unpaid contributors. When the freelancer is pitching or being pitched payment terms are discussed up front. Some periodicals pay per word while others have a flat rate.

While blogging platforms may be monetized guest bloggers often do so as for exposure and cross-pollination instead of payment.

How to grow the audience of your website

One of the best tips for growing audience on the blog or website is being active.
By saying this I mean few things:
  • Post regularly- people like to know that they can read regularly something new on your blog. It keep your blog alive.

10 challenges of writing a Linkedin profile

10 challenges of writing a Linkedin profile
Challenges are relative to the person creating their own Linkedin profile.

It may depend on several factors

  1. You need to have a high level of literacy. Any spelling mistakes or grammatical errors that you make will work against you.
  2. You need to have good strategic thinking skills. We all likely have a long list of jobs, skills and/or accomplishments that we could post. But should we? Your Linkedin profile has to be consistent with your purpose of creating it in the first place. Sometimes, less is more.
  3. You need to get comfortable with promoting yourself. As a business would when marketing itself, your Linkedin profile is marketing you. You have to make sure it is written to present you in the best possible light.
  4. It’s no longer a matter of sharing what you have done in the past, it’s a matter of promoting what you can do in the future. You need to craft your content so that it comes across as a solution to somebody else’s problem.
  5. You need to get comfortable with writing about yourself in the 3rd person vs 1st person ‘I’ statements .
  6. If you are searching for work, your Linkedin profile has to be consistent with your resume. Your Linkedin profile allows you to expand upon some of the claims that you have made on your resume and provide examples of your work.
  7. You need to fill out all of the areas in your profile. This not only means filling in dates and titles, it means providing content that once again, shows you in a good light.
  8. You need to actively build your network of connections. Consider 500 connections as a minimum. It may be the first thing that many people look at. If your connections number is low, some may wonder if it’s worthwhile connecting to you.
  9. Linkedin is one of many social media venues. You need to ensure that your digital footprint is consistent with the professional image that you want to portray.
  10. You should consider your Linkedin profile as being iterative. It needs to be tweaked and adapted on an ongoing basis.
  11. If you are using it for job searching, you may want to keep a file of different content e.g. jobs and duties that you have had in the past and then change your Linkedin profile whenever you are applying for a job.

From my perspective, there are at least two categories of connections on Linkedin. There are those that take a lackadaisical approach to connecting and those that take it very seriously.

Linkedin is merely a tool for you to use to promote yourself. At present, it is likely the best one for achieving results.

How to increase your website traffic from 0 to 100,000 in the shortest time

Someone asked me this and I started laughing at him, I told him that it could be possible by the use of Google adwords, Facebook advertisement and Forums  but he said he needed organic traffic not paid traffic.

So I think this answer is the best answer for his question and also the most easiest way to increase your website' traffic and it's extremely easy.

  1. Go on some Torrent Website and download all the TV Series you can find. Focus on what just came out.
  2. Upload them to your Website or use some third party hosting service that lets you embed videos.
  3. Start a Reddit profile and promote the links on it.
  4. Start a Youtube profile with 30 second clips of the series and link to your website.
  5. Start 30 Instagram fan page style profiles with links to your websites and use some automation tool to target the hashtags related to the series you have uploaded.

Are internet forums dead

Are internet forums dead
Good day guys, many of you have asked me if Internet Forums are dead? This question seemed complicated at first but I have found the answer.

Forums are not dead, but they are suffering from an identity crisis right now. There was a time when forums were where all the activity happened on the web. If you wanted real time discussion, you found it on forums.

If you wanted social interaction, you found it on forums. If you were seeking high quality user generated content, you found it on forums. Nowadays the proliferation of social media sites has caused a competitive dynamic that has reduced overall time spent per session on forums, but this dynamic has also created an opportunity for forums to focus on their core strengths.

Forums are the best medium for many to many discussion around a subject of mutual interest.

Trending now!! read here

These were initially niche interests, but the accessibility to these topics has actually resulted in more people learning about these topics and that in turn keeps driving unique users to forum based properties.

Forums are where you go to learn about a topic in its entirety. On a forum you can ask and answer questions but you can also share content whether it is something you have found, or something you have created.
Sites like Quora allow you to ask and answer questions while sites like Reddit allow you to share content, but forums give you a comprehensive ability to do both in a way that is not limited by social or follower dynamics.

Another compelling feature of forums is that real identities are the exception, not the rule. While having discussions with users named furryfan72 and ninjasquid might be offputting at first, it forces you to focus on the quality of their thoughts and ideas and not how popular they are in real life. I personally love this merit based attribute of forums and I find it hard to reproduce this type of honest exchange of ideas on any other medium.

If you added up all of the people who post on forums and were somehow able to network them using common platforms, sign on methodologies, and forum centric search- you would have one of the most potent membership bases that has yet to be exploited fully on the web.

Take the example of a person who is a passionate and knowledgable scuba diver. They might share a few scuba pictures on Facebook or Pinterest, maybe they will tweet about a great dive. If they have a question, they could try posting it on Quora or Yahoo Answers. If they are very knowledgeable they could look for questions on these same sites and help out by providing their expertise, but none of these options allows you to immerse yourself in scuba. This is where forums come in- they are immersive and the experience is not replicated by any of the major social media platforms that you read about in the press.

Forums are wonderful. They need some technology upgrades and smart people to recognize their value so that they can continue to flourish well into the future

Adsense Tips And Tricks 2017

Adsense Tips And Tricks 2017
The Google AdSense solution is used by millions of web masters around the world. Some of them have great success and good income, while others get only a few dollars.

Here we will share some basic tips which are known to help increase the revenue generated through Google AdSense.

First, you should choose the advertisement block format which best suits your web site visual style. The experience shows that the 336x280 Large Rectangle, the 300x250 Medium Rectangle, and the 160x600 Wide Skyscraper are the most effective shapes. Still, you should mind the visual appearance of your web pages when you insert the AdSense code. If you have a little space for ads, the best solution will be the link unit format.

Additionally, you should pick the most suitable color palette for your ads block. If you have a light background on your web site, it is better to use a similar light palette for the AdSense box. The contrast choice for an ads box palette is good only for web sites with dark background. Still, it is better to pick a color which already exists in your web site.

It is better to create an ads unit which includes both text and images. In this way both will be displayed and this will increase the chance to get a click on an advertisement by a web site visitor.

Next, you should consider the location of the ads on your web pages.

Probably the best position of the advertisements is in the top / header of your site. However, this can break the consistency of your content, so you should be careful using such a solution. Other good locations are just below the navigation bar, above the footer and in the left menu area. You should always put yourself in the visitors' shoes and look to the web site from their point of view. If the ads block makes you feel uncomfortable while browsing the web site, you should consider a different position or formatting.

Additionally, you should define the number of the advertisement units per page. There are some restrictions about it. You are allowed to have up to three advertisement units per page (in addition to three link units and three referral units). If you have a web site with a lot of content, which requires the visitors to scroll down the pages or you manage a forum or a blog, it is wise to put more AdSense blocks.

However, always make sure that the main unit which will generate the major part of the revenue is loaded first in the web site source code. In case you wonder, if you place more than 3 ads units on a page only the first 3 will appear.

Detailed instructions on how to improve the efficiency of your AdSense blocks can be found in the Google AdSense resources section:

By Harsh Agrawal
Update: Famebit is now acquired by Google. This gives you more reason to join it ASAP!

Do you want to make money from your Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, Instagram, Vine or even your Tumblr account?
What I’m sharing here today can provide you with a great revenue stream.
And… no, you don’t need to have a blog to get started with this.
It’s all about sponsored posts…
  • Sponsored posts are nothing new & is a common term in the field of online advertising.
Here at Doneve, we get offers starting from $1000 for a sponsored post.
Now, one can get a sponsored post for their social media channels.  All you need is an active profile on any of the above mentioned social media networks and more than 5000 followers. I believe Twitter & YouTube would be the r to get started with this.

The new monetization technique which I’m sharing with you today is called “Social Media Monetization“.
The network is called Famebit.

What is Famebit & how you can make money from it?

Famebit is a platform which connects social media influencers with brands. The cool thing is that you don’t have to be the most popular person in the world to be a “social media influencer”. I will explain more about it later, but for now, let me explain what Famebit is & how it works.
i
Famebit helps you to get sponsorship for your social media channels & through this sponsorship, you can earn handsome amounts of money.

As a brand, finding influencers to talk about your product on various social networking sites is the definition of viral marketing and can prove to be very valuable.
This a self-serving marketplace & it is easy to get started.
Famebit was initially started focusing on YouTubers & now it supports more social networking sites. You only need 1,000 followers on any of the accepted networks to connect and start sending proposals.

Famebit tips
The very first thing you should do after signing up for Famebit is update your profile. Write a compelling bio & link all your social networking profiles which have a minimum of 5000 followers.
Here is a video that shows how to utilize the Famebit public profile feature:

Here is how you make money from Famebit:

Once you have created an account on Famebit (free registration), you can access their marketplace instantly. Here you can browse the brands who are looking for influencers to talk about & promote their product. You will find products related to almost all popular niches such as technology, gadgets, beauty, fashion, pets & many others.
Famebit dashboard
You can sort the offers based on targeted social networks, niches & pricing. You can click on “details” to see more about the sponsorship & from here you can contact the brand with your idea of promoting them.
DuckduckGo
Click on “Send Proposal” & share your ideas with the brand on what you would be doing.
I will share some smart tips on sending Famebit proposals in upcoming posts, but for now here is just a sample rough proposal which I created for Fiverr.
Famebit Prposal
Note: This is just a rough draft I created for this article. I would suggest you use something more creative & data driven in your proposal.
It’s a good idea to include your past work so brands know what to expect. Include some data based details to get a higher chance of acceptance.
This is how the brand will see your proposal.
Brand received proposal
You can send the proposal to any number of companies. I would recommend you use a template for sending out proposals, but also be sure to make it personal.
Study the brand and come up with a unique idea.
Here’s the process:

  1. Once your proposal is accepted, work on the promotion plan & share the draft with the company using the Famebit dashboard.
  2. Once that is accepted, you can go live with it.

Things to note:

  1. Once you submit the content on your channel, the company who sponsored your content becomes the copyright owner. They can reuse it for their other media campaigns.
  2. For a first timer, it’s a good idea to read the terms and conditions of Famebit.
  3. Famebit charges 10% of the sponsored fees for providing this platform.
  4. Payment is made via PayPal or paper check.

Tip: On Famebit, you can also receive physical products to try & review. So at times, it’s OK to keep your proposal price low as you will get to review the product for free.
Overall, Famebit is one of those monetization techniques which is not limited to bloggers.
Anyone who is active on social media platforms like Youtube, Facebook, Twitter (and a few more) can earn a decent income out of it. In particular, a YouTuber can earn anywhere between $10 and $20,000.
For YouTubers, I recommend using this 3rd party tool call TubeBuddy to grow their channel fast.

Why You Will Never Make Money Blogging (And How To Change That)

Let me start you off with this simple truth:
  • You will never make money as a blogger if you continue to do the wrong things.
Albert Einstein’s great quip sums this up – “It is sheer insanity to do something over and over again and expect a different result.
Many new bloggers are lost in thoughts of being able to travel the world and spend time in expensive hotels eating the best meals. While this is a possible feat to achieve, it sure takes a lot of guts and time in getting to this place of tremendous achievement.
Daniel Lyons (Fake Steve Jobs) confirmed that, “While blogs can do many awesome things, making lots of money isn’t one of them.”
He was right, if you ask me.
Your blog isn’t a money printing machine; rather, it’s a tool used for reaching the world with your valuable products/services… and possibly making money in the process.
Of course, it takes a lot of work. You must be willing to go through the process patiently, and if you do, success will surely come.
I love Whitney Young Jr.’s great quote, “It’s better to be prepared for an opportunity and not have one than to have an opportunity and not be prepared for it.”
The latter part of the quote paints a typical blogging situation- someone who has a chance at becoming one of the most respected people in the annals of the world, but loses out by reasons of unpreparedness.
In this post, I will reveal to you the reasons why you will never make money blogging in 2017. Aside from that, I’ll also show you how you can reverse this and build a money-making blog right now.
Are we still together?
Let’s dive in!

Why You Will Never Make Money Blogging This Year (And How To Reverse It)

1. You don’t have a concrete business model.
Concrete business model
Now, before I explain what a business model is and how to set up one for your business, let me quickly tell you why the lack of one is ruining your blogging business.
When you don’t have a system or a plan that encourages or pushes you to take the necessary actions in your business, you risk losing your enthusiasm and passion which will eventually result in the death of your blog.
So what is a business model?
The term “business model” can be defined in so many ways…
For the sake of this tutorial, I will describe a business model simply as a plan or design for the successful operation of a business, the intended customer base, the identified revenue sources, products, and sources of financing.
Similarly, Wikipedia defined it as: “an abstract representation of a business, be it conceptual, textual, and/or graphical, of all core interrelated architectural, co-operational, and financial arrangements designed and developed by an organization presently and in the future, as well as all core products and/or services the organization offers, or will offer, based on these arrangements that are needed to achieve its strategic goals and objectives.”
One of the mistakes often made by bloggers is in thinking that a business model is all about saying: “I want to make money.”
Honestly, if you put the “making money” thing as the primary reason for starting your business, you’re already doomed.
Money shouldn’t be your focus when starting out online as a blogger. The focus should be on creating systems; that includes creating significant and valuable content that takes a reader from where they are to where they ought to be.
Distilling it down, a good business model will let you:

  1. Identify who your target audience is.
  2. Identify revenue sources.
  3. Figure out how to serve your customers. (With text, videos, audios, infographics, etc.?)
  4. Identify products to create that will further educate your audience on what you currently teach them via your blog posts. (Example: You can create and sell an eBook.)
  5. Identify where will you get funds and how will you continue to invest in your business to stay relevant in the marketplace.
  6. Find the best promotional strategies to get your business out there.

These are just some of the things to consider when creating a plan/model for your business.
This is a very important step when starting out as a blogger.
You must give it maximum attention.
Making money from blogging does not come overnight. I’ve been in the internet marketing and blogging niche longer than most of you, and I’ve never seen anyone that launched one day and started seeing money roll in the next day.
It doesn’t happen.
Forget all those adverts hovering over the web about how Jack made $$$$$$ within 48 hours of launching his business. If it actually worked that way, everyone would be doing it.
Here’s what you need to remember:
  • If you want to make real money in the real world, you need to solve real problems.
If you’re serious about making money, learn to shift focus on wanting to be a quick and overnight success to providing a lot of value to your readers
Value is what sells you and your products, and it is what ultimately helps you to achieve your money-making goals.
According to Copyblogger“If you don’t offer customers something they dearly want, whether it’s to gain some great pleasure or escape some great pain, you’re not going to make any money.”
3. You are not asking the right questions.
Ask Blogging Questions
I constantly get readers of ShoutMeLoud asking me:
  • How do I make money blogging?
  • How can I get traffic to my blog?
  • How can I build influence and get blog engagements?
While all these questions are great, there’s always something wrong with the phrasing.
Example:
Don’t ask: “How can I get traffic?”
Ask: “Is my blog capable of getting traffic?”
A lot of the time, people come into the online space to build blogs, publish some crappy content, and splash ads all over the place expecting to make lots of money.
Well, it doesn’t work like that!
You have got to push yourself really far by asking the right questions and doing the right things if you want to attract the right people in order to maybe make money blogging.
For instance, if your article headline is not engaging and compelling enough, it won’t attract visitors to stop over and read the article. The same thing applies to your content; if it sucks, no one will want to engage with your blog.
You have to give people a good reason to leave your competitor’s site and read yours.
How do you do that?
It’s mostly about creating informative and entertaining content that readers will find hard to ignore.
Don’t do what everyone else is doing. Write in your own unique voice, and soon, people will start noticing your unique and outstanding approach.
That’s when they will fall in love with you and make your blog their new dwelling place.

How To Make Your Blog A Success

If you take the time to really read through this post, you will definitely go from making nothing to making a substantial income as a blogger.
Many people are already doing it, and there’s no reason you can’t be doing it too.
You just need to make sure you’re doing the right things.
Don’t fall into the “make money online” trap. Nothing can replace hard work and dedication.
When people can see that you care about what you do, they’ll learn to respect and trust you as an authority in your niche.
When that happens, the money will start rolling in.
