PiP Video Calling Features Coming To WhatsApp

More interesting features are being added on WhatsApp and the latest awaiting to be included is the PiP video calling feature. It's already available on WhatsApp beta version 2.17.265 for Android devices that run Android O Developer Preview. In case you want to know the meaning of PiP video call, see answer below.

PiP means "Picture-in-Picture" mode. So according to an official tweet from WhatsApp Beta Info Twitter handle, the feature would let you minimize the video call window into a smaller window so you can keep your video conversation going while answering another WhatsApp conversation.

For now, it's unclear if the small window with the video chat is a floating window that can be dragged around, nor do we know if the video conference would continue even after minimizing WhatsApp.

If so, this would be one of the first video calling apps to allow this type of multi-tasking on a smartphone platform.
